Every Picture Tells A Story

Okay it's Christmastime and everyone is in the holiday spirit. All the decorating, baking and holiday parties, it's just a wonderful time. Oh yes, and don't forget the Christmas cards. I had a friend when we lived in Delaware Ohio who made her goal every year to be the first Christmas card that all her friends and relatives received. She would send them out, I swear, the day after Thanksgiving. No lie. She would irritate the shit out of me, every year , here came this card so freaking early. I was just working to get my tree up before Robby's birthday, and that was only 10 days before Christmas, for God's sake. And you know I think I had a few years that those cards just didn't go out. When you have so many things to do and so little time....the cards are last for me, unlike my Delaware friend, who obviously focused very much on the card thing.Believe me, she never skipped anything....she got it all done.
I really do enjoy receiving the cards though. When December begins, there are a few cards here and there. As Christmas approaches they start coming in droves. We haven't gotten any newsletters this year. Those were way popular when the kids were younger, and the friends wanted to give you the scoop on what their kids were doing, and how wonderfully perfect they were. We never did the Christmas Newsletter, although I did do a faux Newsletter, only for our closest friends that was not very warm and fuzzy, it was just the opposite, I didn't send it, I read it at a Christmas party at Debbie's, we all laughed, then I burned it. Then we sang and the guys played guitar.
I have noticed that many people last year and this year have been sending Christmas card photos. I suppose with digital cameras, it's very easy to make the cards. I love the pictures of the new babies. I really do enjoy seeing pictures of our friend's kids, and how they grow year after year. Yet, this year, I have come to the conclusion that there are some people that really shouldn't do that. We received a card the other day that was a picture of the ugliest people I have ever seen in my life. I know that sounds so evil, I am sorry, I could not get over it. In this photo there were ugly old people , ugly young people, and ugly middle aged people. I mean they could have been the freaking Adam's family. What were they thinking? Who wants a Christmas card of these ugly people? Unless you are related to them, and know who they are. Oh look at Aunt Sally she's 101, well maybe Aunt Sally looks good for 101, but to someone who doesn't know her, she looks like an old scary lady. Don't send that picture as your Christmas card to a neighbor,(just an FYI). By the way, Merry Christmas. And to all my friends that have sent us Christmas card photos,....they were darling, and you people don't know who I am talking about, but I'll show you when you come to visit next...OMG!
