Tradition
Who in the world invented a day that you cook every single kind of side dish imaginable, including ones that you would never ordinarily eat on any other day, eg. cranberry sauce and sweet potatoes? You eat decadent mashed potatoes, smothered in salt and butter, and fabulous fatty gravy, cook a 22 pound turkey so you can eat from it for a week. Not to mention the desserts, you can't just have one pie.Pumpkin pie is a given, but you have to have a choice, apple, mince meat, cherry, other than pumpkin are usually available.I forgot pecan pie! Yes, that's giant too.I was going to make My fiend LuAnnes, famous pecan squares, but grandma brought Kolachi. How great is that? Lordy that's Thanksgiving! I have to admit, I got caught up with the hoopla. The food channel had ssssso many great ideas, I couldn't stop watching. I love a pretty table and I even had napkin rings.Never ever thought I'd see the day that I would have napkin rings. TJ Max.....love that place.
I guess it's a reason forfamily and friends to take a break from the routine and really indulge overboard in visiting ,playing eating and drinking.Okay, sounds good to me.I just feel like the calories I've ingested in one day could have been spread out over a week.
We had two special guests this Thanksgiving. Jeansie and "Gaga Woof woof". Hadn't said that in forever, but it was a great visit and cooking and eating is much more fun when you have company.Grandma got home safe and sound and I think she actually enjoyed herself. She missed Bri's big bash, but I think she was ready to head home and help Samantha celebrate her engagement. We are all so happy that Samantha and Pat are getting married. And you all know How I love the Y-town weddings. Yoo-hooo! We got one coming up. This next year is going to be a doozie folks.
Lot's happening. We got Jim's 50th b-day, Grandma is going to be 80,Jennifer's first holy communion, now the wedding yipppeee.Oh Yea, Rob and I will be married thirty years, that's kinda giant.
Okay, so then on to Brianne's, Jake's and Ozzie's bash. It was soo fun. Everyone looked great and again another day/night of over-indulgence. Okay people at this rate I will weigh 200 lbs in no time. And that ain't pretty on a five foot nothin lady. And I got a wedding next year to look good for. But that's not like me to actually worry about this a year ahead of time. No, not me I'll just wait till three weeks before and be frantic. Right now, I'm just worried about fitting in my largest size of black pants that I own. Yes, I own several. My skinny black pants(which I haven't warn for three years, my medium black pants(which are the norm...I wear the mosttttttt) and my big pair, which I have dug out this week. Whatever, It was a fun four days.
