A Y-town Christmas Weekend
Okay, I know no one actually believes this but big Daddy and I were actually spontaneous and decided to go to Y-town for Christmas. Now, back in the old days, the 70's as we knew them, we were known to do outrageous things on a whim. But in the now....we are not that spontaneous. So we decided after I was called off work a half day on Friday to do a Y-town traunt.Which was way cool, cause it was Jan's B-day. And we totally surprised her. And Grandma Mullally had talked to us earlierin the week, and said the weather was so good.It was perfect, because I would have been just a little sad on Christmas without some extended family around.Eventhough we had our big fat Christmas with our kids, the weekend before, its still a time to be with family.
So we packed up our bags and and said with a smile
lets go to Y-town, it's only a million miles.
that's just exactly what we did
No presents in tow, God forbid.
That's all okay Rob said with glee. My mom won't care she just wants to see me.
So we drove through the night and called on the way,
We're coming Christmas Eve and at your house we will stay.
Mom was happy and called all through the town...
Joyce and Sam,Jim and JoLynn make room for more family,
And don't give a frown.
We were welcomed with open arms that were sincere
even though we arrived by car, not by reindeer.
Christmas Eve what a feast, poor Jim and Jolynn
Never sat all night, from the time we strolled in.
The Italian feast was the best, their traditions rule.
we loved to see the kids and hear all about school.
The next day we woke early and blew in to Joyce and Sam's.
Their new house is a mansion, You got to see it to understand.
We had wedding soup and good conversation before we left.
as soon as we got there , it was over in a jiff.
Off we went in our car as we drove out of sight,
Merry Christmas to you all,
and to all a good night. (eventhough it was noon ....that doesn't rhyme.)
So a thankyou is due to you all for your hospitality and especially at such short notice.
I apologize to my family members that I did not connect with. I promise I will make it up very soon. You all are too spread out...and there are way too many of you. I love you too.....It was grandma's turn.
