Visit With The Boy
We acquired the boy on Sunday. The first thing Rob and I did was a punch list of all his little scrapes and bumps. A little skinned knee,a scratch here and there. Not because we are worry about his care, we just want to return him in the same shape we got him. Tottlers are another breed, and Abram is no exception. The child runs faster than the speed of light, and as soon as you turn around he's gone. He loves to run. It cracks me up, but we are old, and it's hard to keep up with him. He enjoyed going through the tall decorative grass we have in the backyard,I guess he feels like he's hiding or in the jungle. We explored the the bushes and the trees daily. He picked the crab apples for Rob and loved walking through the stones. He picked up rotten apples and squished them and said YUCK! But kept picking up the yucky ones. He's all boy that one.
I took him to the park and he just wanted to run. The hours just flew. When he slept, he was an angel. He slept for hours. Then when he woke, he was so busy.
He missed his Mommy and Daddy very much. He asked about them every day. He even cried when Rob would come home for lunch, and then leave for work. It's all new to him. I just want him to feel comfortable in our house, he hasn't really been away from his Mommy and Daddy for very long at a time. It's just a new thing , and he needs to feel secure that he will be safe and know that he'll be with them again.
When I would put him to bed at night the stupid high school band was practicing, and I was worried that the music would scare him., or another night the soccer team had a big game and the crowd was cheering, I didn't want Abe to be bothered. He wasn't. I got to rock him to sleep. That's probably one of the best moments to have, this little boy will let me rock him to sleep. It's amazing.
My most favorite thing of all, is when Abe says, Tank-yuuuuu Grandma. OMG! It just makes me melt. He understands when to say it.
When he got his ice cream cone fom DQ and he enjoyed every morsel, he did his happy -food-dance, just like his father, I just couldn't contain myself.
He did go home with some battle wounds, little slices in his hands from the grass,(it killed me that that happened. ) A little neosporine and band-aids, took care of that. A bump on the head from him putting CD's in the player and not paying attention to the cabinet. These young'uns heal fast. The bump was gone before ya know it, and Jake met me Bloomington to pick Abe up, on Wednesday. Even though Abe was acting out a bit for his father, it's all good, we're starting the terrible two's. My Mom used to say, "Would you want your kid sitting in a corner, afraid of everything around them, or would you want your gregarious, outgoing communicative,BUSY little one?" You decide. The lady had eight kids , I think she knew a thing or two.
