Is 50 the New 30?
All I know is that when I was 30 , I felt like a kid . At fifty I feel like an adult.
I do think that you are as old as you think. But I can't stand women that overdo the trendy thing and really dress too young. On the other hand I have seen fashion don'ts for women I am sure are my age or even younger. It certainly has helped having a daughter that keeps me in the know. She also lets me know if I am out of line (too young ) or too old lady....eg. tucking in my shirts to high waisted jeans that are straight-leg to the ankles.
Then there is the mind set of acting like a fuddy duddy when you are actually chronologically young, not having anything to do with fashion.I don't think that was ever my problem.Saying that,I do think that I am feeling my age more so now than ever. So the big 5-0 was the culpret.
Case in point, I had the opportunity to be with some ladies ...all arounnd my age, this means 50-60 age group. I hadn't seen them for awhile. In the conversation they were the same smart, sharp ladies I had known before, makeup and hair looked good ,cute clothes, all very well accomplished in their careers. They were talking about taking a trip together and when could they go to Europe? I just said , well you better hurry up and go before you can't walk and see everyting you want. They all looked at me like I had three heads something. They were silenced. I said,I don't know about you ,tell me it doesn't hurt every morning just to get out of bed . They all said oh yea, it hurts. Okay , that's what I'm talking about.
Sometimes I go to bed and just wake up with an ache that there is no reason to have. Maybe it's my pillow or how I slept on the blanket. My son has slept on gravel for God's sake and he has no problems. Good Lord he slept in a recliner in my basement for all of his teenage years. I can not even sleep without my special pillow. So don't give me this shit that 50 is the new 30. I certainly did not have the aches and pains at thirty that I do now.So Miss Oprah, who looks good on her couch with her designer high healed shoes. Did you walk all over Las Vegas in those babies....I did like an idiot. Hell yea I looked good. It took a lot longer to get where i wanted to go, but i looked good.Did I have bruises on my feet , yes, ( FYI the shoe with the bunion toe actually did better than the foot that I had surgery
on to fix the bunion.)
So what is the real reason why 50 is the new 30. I will tell you. It's the freaking baby boomers. There are more of us...so the media wants us to think that we are the epitomy of beauty.Whatever, give me my 30 year old muscles and bones any day.Now we sure can take better care of ourselves and we can last longer, and maybe even look better than our parents and grandparents did at this age, but guess what, we are old...and I sure ain't 30....So I like myself more, and feel more confidet, but still hurt all over. What's up with that?

the media wanting us to think that we are the epitomy of beauty, well hell there right....WE ARE!
I already have a bad night's sleep without my favorite pillow too--I'm only 23. At this rate, I dont know what I will be like at 50!
