The Big Birthday Bash

We had such a great time for Jo Ellen's Big 6-0.
I really think we had just as much fun getting it together as the party it's self. We all just started with ideas and we we just kept going. My nephew Bill started the ball rolling. He and Monica sent out the coolest invitations that were set up like a ticket. It had all Jo Ellen's favorites on there...ND Football and Beatles, so that really took off as the theme,Notre Dame Football game and Karaoke of course. For the Allen family that's just about all we need for a good time. Give any one of us a microphone and we turn into different people, just ask Janet or Judy.

It wasn't a surprise party, Lord knows you don't want to throw any person over the age of 50 a surprise. Your first thought may have been that you don't want to surprise them into a heart attach. My deal is you sure as hell better tell me about having a party, so I have my make-up done, a cute outfit and my happy dance shoes.I would just be a total wreck if I wasn't prepared. Okay enough about me it was Joey's B-day.

My Aunt Eileen came and three of our cousins with spouses. That was pretty cool. Aunt Eileen is my Dad's sister, and she is the only one of his family still living. We all tried to figure how old she was, and the consensus was she's 88! Do you believe it? She is darling, and sharp as as a tack.We got to see Judy's newest little grandchild Tessa, who is only three months old.How often do you have the eldest person in your family with the youngest? We had it, and it was very special.

We all sang, told stories, laughed, and oh yea had some beers and some tailgating food. The highlight of the party was that Bill had put together an awesome DVD for JoEllen. It was the best I have ever seen. Complete with UHS Highschool, Idora Park, Youngstown Steel Mills. Not too bad for a young man who only spent a handful of Christmases there and maybe a week here and there a summer or two. Along with pictures of Jo growing up ( which I must say she must have forty million baby pictures and there are maybe two of me.)That's what you get when you are number five....she was number one.He also incorporated events that were happening at the age of her pictures, pretty clever. So along with Jo there was Elvis, Martin Luther King,..... snipits from movie like, Star Wars. I am not doing it justice, you just got to see it.

Any time I have a chance to get together with my family I love it. To be able to get together for a happy event even better.I guess I need to sum it up like this:

Full Gas tank to Drive to Y-town: $50.00
Birthday Cake and Food : $200.00
Enough booze for the Allen's : $1,000.00

Dave and Jo Ellen singing , "I Got You Babe" PRICELESS
