Tradition

Who in the world invented a day that you cook every single kind of side dish imaginable, including ones that you would never ordinarily eat on any other day, eg. cranberry sauce and sweet potatoes? You eat decadent mashed potatoes, smothered in salt and butter, and fabulous fatty gravy, cook a 22 pound turkey so you can eat from it for a week. Not to mention the desserts, you can't just have one pie.Pumpkin pie is a given, but you have to have a choice, apple, mince meat, cherry, other than pumpkin are usually available.I forgot pecan pie! Yes, that's giant too.I was going to make My fiend LuAnnes, famous pecan squares, but grandma brought Kolachi. How great is that? Lordy that's Thanksgiving! I have to admit, I got caught up with the hoopla. The food channel had ssssso many great ideas, I couldn't stop watching. I love a pretty table and I even had napkin rings.Never ever thought I'd see the day that I would have napkin rings. TJ Max.....love that place.
I guess it's a reason forfamily and friends to take a break from the routine and really indulge overboard in visiting ,playing eating and drinking.Okay, sounds good to me.I just feel like the calories I've ingested in one day could have been spread out over a week.
We had two special guests this Thanksgiving. Jeansie and "Gaga Woof woof". Hadn't said that in forever, but it was a great visit and cooking and eating is much more fun when you have company.Grandma got home safe and sound and I think she actually enjoyed herself. She missed Bri's big bash, but I think she was ready to head home and help Samantha celebrate her engagement. We are all so happy that Samantha and Pat are getting married. And you all know How I love the Y-town weddings. Yoo-hooo! We got one coming up. This next year is going to be a doozie folks.
Lot's happening. We got Jim's 50th b-day, Grandma is going to be 80,Jennifer's first holy communion, now the wedding yipppeee.Oh Yea, Rob and I will be married thirty years, that's kinda giant.
Okay, so then on to Brianne's, Jake's and Ozzie's bash. It was soo fun. Everyone looked great and again another day/night of over-indulgence. Okay people at this rate I will weigh 200 lbs in no time. And that ain't pretty on a five foot nothin lady. And I got a wedding next year to look good for. But that's not like me to actually worry about this a year ahead of time. No, not me I'll just wait till three weeks before and be frantic. Right now, I'm just worried about fitting in my largest size of black pants that I own. Yes, I own several. My skinny black pants(which I haven't warn for three years, my medium black pants(which are the norm...I wear the mosttttttt) and my big pair, which I have dug out this week. Whatever, It was a fun four days.

Jillsy-isms

Well, I am definitely feeling more comfortable in my work relationships, because I have found that people are starting to treat me more familiarly(is that a word?). And by that I mean that they are comfortable enough to laugh at me ,with me and about me. Which I am so very cool with, because if you can't laugh what's the use in getting up every morning and going to work. I used to like to dress cute and go to work. Believe me there is nothing flattering about hunter green scrubs. So I needed people interaction/fun conversation to motivate me to get to work, and it's really tough when these people are sizing you up,and you need to be professional and make sure they trust your skills. So now that I think they trust that part of me I can finally show the true Jillsy. First of all they didn't know the Jillsy name. They do now, and some of them are using it. I found out I make sounds... One of my coworkers was working on the computer and she said I'm going to make a Jill sound. I asked, I make sounds? They all laughed, yes. They all knew the sound, The only way I can explain the sound it's the sound you make when you are signing a cut throat. Isn't that funny? I didn't know I did that. I do it when I make a mistake on the computer. And believe me I did it a lot when I first started. I caught myself the other day making that sound when Rob was driving and just missed an oncoming car.(he hates the sound)he! he! I also do a MMM,Mmm,mmm, kind of noise.I knew I did that one...you know like when you're dissapproving of something. I just didn't realize I made that sound out loud, I thought it was in my head, oops.
Another random thing was while in report one of the girls had a premonition about a patient, and Pam another therapist said, You have ESPN, as Jill would say. Yes, and don't you forget it. On another occasion I had forgotten to document some of my procedures, and one of the girls left me a note, I made my corrections and and left her a note thanking her,and the only explanation I had was that I had a TIA.(transient ischemic attach, mini strokes),hello, they are all using it now. Love it.In the words of Sally Fields, "you like me you really like me." I'm being my drama self now,but I need to hang on to these little meaningless things in order to be comfortable being the real me. Which is a whacky zaney person. They ain't seen nothin yet? Have they friends?
It takes me back to when Bri was in a psychology class in college, and she informed me there are different kinds of humorous people. She stated that her father says funny things, while I say things funny. I guess she was right after all.I am just happy to laugh again in the work place, cause nothing is worse than a job without fun. It's like a day without sunshine, and we all know how sucky that is.Smile it takes less muscles to smile than to frown.
