A Sad Loss

I do not pretend to be a very politically savvy person. I probably get most of my information from TV and radio, I am very ashamed to to admit. There was one TV journalist that I really trusted, and my ears would perk up when he spoke. That was Tim Russert. He just seemed to me to be a very down to earth kinda guy, who happened to be very smart. Also who happened to be on Meet The Press, and got to interview many very politically influential people. There was something about him that made me really digest what he had to say. He didn't come off to me as biased as either liberal or Conservative, he was just straight forward and direct.

I am sad that he passed away, and I will miss his whole take on this presidential election coming up. He would have been a great asset to the 2008 presidential race and the outcome. His perspective was so informative. I am sure he dummied it down for the people like me.I think even very politically minded people payed attention to his interviews and what he had to say. I could tell he loved what he did.He really wanted people to understand the issues and the current debates between the politicians. I trusted what he reported, I guess because of that spark in his eye, I could tell he loved what he did.

I thought of him as a peer. I am very sad that we, as an audience have lost such a man. He made me feel like I was his friend and he was talking directly to me. I am even more sad for his family. They lost a father, a husband and a son. I cannot imagine the shock and grief they feel. At 58 years old he was a man taken long before his years of life have that were meant to be spent. I guess it just makes you more aware of how precious life is every day. It doesn't happen very often , but when it does it takes awhile to bounce back. He will be missed.
