Adora Fox Trot Belle

Who woulda thought that this would be such a nightmare for poor Jeanie's fiftieth birthday. I wanted to give her something special. What do you give someone who doesn't really understand the value of the dollar, you could actually get away with giving her a PEZ Dispenser. Yet,who would actually do that?
I really wanted her fifteth to be special. She loves Marie and Donny Osmond, and the only program on TV she watches besides reruns of Sonny and Cher, Carol Burnett Show,The Golden Girls, The Partridge Family and The Donny and Marie Show was Dancing With the Stars. Why? Because Marie was on it. Da! So,I got her a Marie Osmond, Dancing with the Stars Doll. To be excact,Adora Fox Trot Belle Doll. Well that would have been great, but the doll needed to be pre-ordred. I thought I did that, in plenty of time before Jeanie's celbration. To be honest, I knew the doll would not be at the actual birthday party, which was the middle of January. To my dismay, I did not think the doll would not arrive after the January 31st date. Well it still has not arrived. Try to explain that to Jeanie, who has been chomping at the bit for this doll.
Jeanie has literally called me twice a day, every day since her actual birthaday. I understand, I can relate. You make it to fifty you may as well celebrate, rather than be sad your youth is gone. And believe me your youth is gone at fifty. And what's up with Marie Osmond? Why did they give a specific date? We still don't have the doll. And Jeanie has beeen looking EVERY FREAKING DAY> and I am here to tell ya, I know. This isn't to say I am complaining by any rights. I love to talk to Jean. But she is like a child that really doesn't have any concept of time, whether it be calendar days or hours on the clock. I told her she just had to wait till January 31st. Well that's come and gone.
The moral of the story is. Jeanie appreciates gifts. Jeanie has no concept of time. Do not give Jeanie gifts , after the fact. And finally most importantly, never, never tell her something is coming in the mail. Let it be a surprise. Happy Valentines Day! Maybe it will be there by then.

The boy likes boxes

Over the years technology has really changed the way our children learn and play. There have been studies on new and inventive ways to keep our kids happy ,interested and challenged. Why is it that kids really just love the box it came in. You could spend hundreds of dollars on a toy,and the kid has a ball with the box. End of story, some things never change.

Superbowl Sunday

What a great night! The game was good, Peyton Manning's brother won. You know, as a mother I just wanted Eli to win a Super Bowl too. Now both boys have Super Bowl rings. It's only fitting. We had great food. I was assigned a salad. Well I had to call my sister-in-law Carroline for her specialty, "Antone's Salad". It was a big hit. Not a morsel left. The commercials were good. My absolute favorite was the Coke commercial with the balloons. Stewie and Underdog fighting over the Coke, and Charlie Brown finally wins it. Perfect.Sorta makes up for all those years that he didn't get to kick the ball, thanks to Lucy. Congratulations New York, I actually watched the whole game.It really was exciting.
